BOSTON TRAVEL INFORMATION

Boston: A City Rich in History

APWA takes its annual Congress to the historic Commonwealth of Massachusetts: Boston. There is no other U.S. city with the historical significance of Boston—from the Battle of Bunker Hill to the Boston Tea Party to the midnight ride of Paul Revere—Boston has played a key role in American history.

But it’s not just about the history of Boston; equally impressive is the modern day significance of Boston as the city has become an intellectual, technological and political center. Home to some of the largest and most complex public works projects in the nation—The Central Artery Tunnel Project (The Big Dig), the first underground rapid transit system in the U.S., and the Deer Island secondary sewage treatment plant—Boston is sometimes referred to as the "Hub of the Universe," making it the perfect destination for the Best Show in Public Works.
